Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the band of tissue that runs from the heel along the bottom of the foot. It is usually exacerbated by excessive running or walking and is often made worse with ill-fitting footwear, problematic foot function and biomechanics. As this condition causes pain in the heel and bottom of the foot, it is often confused with bone spurs. Orthotic therapy stretches and radial shockwave therapy are just some of the treatments we offer at PPC.
The most common symptom of plantar fasciitis is heel pain. This pain usually worsens in the morning or after prolonged periods of rest and subsides after stretches of walking. There are several treatments for this inflammation, so if you are suffering from heel pain, visit our expert podiatrists for a solution.
We use a variety of treatments at Plympton Podiatry Centre, depending on the severity of the case and the possible cause. Some simple treatments that often help more acute cases are sports taping and stretching programs. If you have more chronic plantar fasciitis, our specialist can help you with orthotic therapy, dry needling, and radial shockwave therapy.
We use local laboratories to manufacture our orthoses and have both rigid and soft orthoses and innersoles available.
